The One About BeginningThomas Applewhite

Good Morning everyone! My name's Thomas. Every week I'll post a small summary of every week's meetings, including important info, dates, and additional oppritunities. Today's isn't particularly short, but that's because there's lots of cool stuff happening soon!

Sixense, a VR/AR company from Silicon Valley, is visting this Wednesday, October 23rd at 6pm in DARC 308. Come down and learn about art and development in VR, and try out some cool tech.

The Icebreaker Jam is tomorrow, October 19th, at 2pm in DARC 308. Practive meeting friends and make games, the two things you'll be doing the all year. It's a great way to warm up the old game-juices early!

The Pitching Process is starting tonight, with the first pitches due Wednesday, October 23rd at 11:59pm. There's a lot of information involved with that, so read up: To make a pitch, create a slide show that contains what you want to make, and how each department will be involved. Specific guides on how to do so is linked on the Discord (which you can get to by clicking the Discord icon on this website's homepage). Make sure to email it to gdacollab@gmail.com with the subject line First Pitch Submission. And remember: if you don't make the first deadline this Wednesday, you cannot pitch. Don't delay, pitch today!

We also went through departments today. Here's tiny snippets of what the departments do (and don't worry, you don't need to commit to a department, like, ever):

Programming: Beep Boop C#

Art: Painting and pictures and stuff

Sound: Makes music and SFX but mostly music

Design: Looks like figuring out how the game plays, really just math

Production: Management, basically

Writing: Fanfiction but without the fan part.

That's not very helpful, is it? Well, if you want to know more, ask a department lead or go to a department meeting. Times and location are on the homepage of this website as well.

Whew! That's a ton for one day. Anyways, we'll see you guys next week!
