The One About Global Game JamEric Mitchell

The Winter Quarter may have just begun, but this upcoming week will feature of the busiest events of the year - Global Game Jam!

At the Global Game Jam, participants will form teams to create a game in just 48 hours (woah!)! That's all there is to it really, but we are planning to host a Unity workshop if anyone feels rusty on their programming skills. Food will be provided for the duration of the event!

The event will take place at DARC 308 from January 25th thru the 27th, starting at 5:00pm. Spaces are limited, so if you're in the area around UCSC and you're interested in attending, please register at the official GGJ website (Edit:due to overwhelming popularity, there is no more room for signups for UCSC's Global Game Jam. Sorry folks!).

As far as other upcoming events, the CECI Fair will be happening January 30th from 1:00 - 6:00pm at the West Field House. The job fair is focused on professional game developers interviewing students who are interested in careers in the games industry, so if you plan on attending, bring your resume and wear your best suit. Representatives from Naughty Dog are confirmed to be attending, though they are emphasizing their focus on interviewing female programmers.

And lest we forget, congratulations for Molly and Gigi for becoming the game leads for this year's respective projects, Occultus Ocularus and Seeds of Love! Their teams have already put in a great first few productive weeks, and we're excited to see how their games will shape up!

See you at Global Game Jam!
