Meeting Summary: 14 April 2017

Edmond Le14 April 2017

We further progressed in the club shirt design! One idea we came up with is to have a general GDA T-shirt that incorporates elements from both teams’ games (Bottom Gun and Raiju). Stay tuned!

The Student Game Developers Alliance (SGDA) Summit is approaching on May 20th at Cal Poly Pomona. Here, numerous game design clubs (similar to GDA) will get together to showcase their games, listen to workshops, network, and have a great time! Nine universities are participating but are mostly in southern California, so we’ll be representing northern California. Each club will be hosting a workshop about a topic in game development. For now, GDA is thinking on doing a workshop on communicating aesthetics to artists and musicians. This will be the first-ever meeting for SGDA so we want people to attend. We plan on leaving very early in the morning, participating in the Summit for the whole day, going back to a hotel to sleep for the night, and then waking up in the morning to return home. Think of this as a single day at GDC!

Next up, GDA received an invitation to SlugCon, UCSC’s first anime convention! It will be located in Porter Dining Hall on May 14th from 2:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Here, student artists can sell their work as well as TED talks and performances (singing and dancing). Send an email to chyung@ucsc.edu for more information.
